Scarecrows ready for village festival

Steve Edwards said: “Following the success of the recycled sculptures in last year’s festival, we have again been asking everyone to make a model, scarecrow or other ‘art work’ from recycled material.

“Models should be made of any re-cycled materials and will need to be able to stand up to poor weather conditions. The only limit to the design is your own imagination.”

The Festival gets underway today (Friday) with a curry supper and live band at the Rainbow Trout.

Saturday sees displays, a barbecue, children’s activities, Morris Dancers and Punch and Judy on the recreation ground from 11am.

A number of gardens in the village will be open from 11am to 4pm and in the evening there is a Music Hall concert at the Village Hall.

Sunday sees a number of Teddy Bear themed events around St. George’s Church and the Scout Hut.

The Salvation Army Band will be playing for a service and evensong at 3.30pm at the Recreation Ground (or Methodist Church if wet) and the final Festival Supper is at the Red Lion at 7.30pm.

An Art and Craft exhibition will be on at St. George’s Church on Saturday and Sunday together with a plant stall and refreshments.
