Scouts visit Herald & Gazette offices

SCOUTS visited the Herald & Gazette series of newspapers to learn about how local media is produced and to gain their public relations activity badge this afternoon (Friday, February 21).

Sixth Worthing (St Michael’s) Air Scouts – the only Air Scout group in Worthing – decided to visit the papers’ office in Chatsworth Road, Worthing, to learn how our papers were put together.

Claire Heasman, Scout leader, said: “A lot of the children tend to use social media and the internet now and don’t know how a newspaper is put together from start to finish.”

Scout Jacob Coleman, 12, added: “I’ve learned how to write a good story. Writing a newspaper and learning teeline shorthand is hard.”
