Summer Horticultural show and Mini Fayre this Saturday August 2 on the Village Green. Sedlescombe and District Gardening Society celebrate their 70th anniversary, this will be open to the public from 2 p.m onwards . As well as the flower, vegetable, floral art, cookery and handicraft exhibits there will be a special 70th Anniversary tent portraying a pictorial view of the village through the 70 years. Joining the celebrations will be a host of other societies and companies from the village, who will all have stalls on the village green to make this an event not to miss. St John the Baptist Parish Church . This Sunday August 3 there will be their monthly family service at 10.30am, all families are welcome to join in and celebrate their faith together. The following day Monday August 4 at 7pm they will be hosting “Sedlescombe Remembers “ a commemoration of World War I memories , readings and songs of the time followed by refreshments.

Hooe’s Old Motor Club Show This Sunday August 3 from 11am to 5pm,Hooe’s Old Motor Club is holding their 45th annual Car Show on the Hooe Recreation Ground, situated between Pevensey and Ninfield on the B2095. There are classes for cars from the turn of last century until 1970. Informed commentary is provided in the main ring on the various vehicles together with the prestigious “lady and car” competition in which ladies dress to match the age and spirit of the car. There will be a plethora of stalls, not all motoring related, refreshments and a musical entertainment provided by the Hooe Silver Band. There will be plenty going on for a great day out. Admission which includes a programme is £5 for adults, children under 16 free entry. Car parking in the new improved car park is free. Money raised is distributed amongst local charities. Coffee Morning and Mini Market will be on Thursday August 7 from 10am to 11.30am in the village hall in aid of the Parish church. A chance to meet old friends and greet new ones, there will be the usual stalls , home baking and preserves on offer also bric a brac, books, and plants on sale. No charge for entry. Tea, coffee, cheese scones and buttered buns for £1 from the refreshments team in the kitchen. Your company is looked forward to, for further details please phone 870808.

Rural Past Times will be taking place Saturday August 9 and Sunday August 10 in the grounds of Pestalozzi Village, Sedlescombe. This will be open to the public from 10am to 5pm, entrance being £5 to anyone over the age of 14. Children free. There will be over 90 vintage tractors, 38 vintage commercial vehicles, stationary engines, collections and horticultural equipment.

There will be a much larger craft marquee this year and 30 trade stands. You can take a tractor and trailer ride around the show stopping off to see Heavy Horses, Birds of Prey and Ferret Racing. Also hay making with vintage equipment.

There will also be demonstrations by Wolfshead Bowmen and Blackfeet Lodge Western Society. St Michaels Hospice have a large marquee on site as well as other charities, including the staff of Pestalozzi, Friends of Mallydams and the Woodland Trust.You can make a day of it with a Hog Roast and bar with live music. Other food will also be available or bring your own picnic. Pestalozzi would also like to remind you to visit the Pestalozzi Tea Rooms in Swiss Hall, near the main car park for fantastic food and family fun. Come and release some energy on the bouncy castle or look lovely with their ladybird face-painting. Please note, Pestalozzi does not organise this event. but are delighted to welcome Rural Past Times back to their beautiful estate for the fourth consecutive year in 2014.

St Michaels Hospice Open garden scheme now takes a break for the remainder of the summer until later in the year when one garden will be open in September and October to finish off the season. It was so good that Sedlescombe was able to take part earlier this year and was so successful too. If you would like further details on the future dates and locations please pick up a booklet available at the village shop for a token donation of 50p.
