Thank you to Nigel Ford who volunteered and performed such an expert job taking photographs of the jubilee events in the village last weekend. You may have seen some of them in this very newspaper as part of the Jubilee supplement. Did you also take photographs of the events especially the family picnic? If so Sylvia Beaney would like to hear from you. Sedlescombe Green WI would like to create a record of the event so if you think you could help by supplying some of your photographs please contact her on 01424 870688

News from the Friendship Club. Twenty Five older people were able to (hopefully) enjoy a trip form Bodiam to Tenterden on the Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway railway as part of the Jubilee celebrations. The fare was charged at half the normal price thanks to a generous grant from the Rother Diamond Jubilee Grants Scheme. On the return journey the train was made up of ‘Pullman coaches’ First Class and one Third class (steerage). How the other half live! The morning was spent under that elusive thing we know as sun which made it a very nice experience.

A new programme of outings is available for the second half of the year and will be distributed within the next few days, if you do not receive one please let Ralph know on 01424 870223.

The Open Garden for St Michael’s hospice this Tuesday June 19 is Redpale, Bodle Street, Ashburnham, BN27 4RJ 10.30am to 4pm. Programmes with full details are on sale at Sedlescombe Stores.

Happy birthday to Ashley Davey who will be celebrating 3 score years this weekend , so you might find the Queen’s Head a little lively on Saturday as well wishers drop by to join him. It has to be said that Ashley is a perfect example of why sport may not be good for you, I thought he was at least 3 score and ten!
