Series of burglaries in Worthing

THERE has been a spate of thefts and attempted thefts in Worthing in the last week.

A burglar broke into a house in Chesswood Road and stole a digital camera and camcorder containing family photos and film footage.

The intruder got in through the back of the home on the south side of the road, between 2.30pm and 6.30pm on Thursday, August 12.

As well as the cameras, a laptop, jewellery and several old mobile phones and chargers were stolen.

On Friday, August 13, credit cards and 300 in cash were stolen during a house burglary.

A flat in Eriswell Road was broken into between 10am and 12.30pm.

The back door of the flat had been left insecure and a messy search of the flat had been carried out by the thieves.

Then, some time over the weekend, a plasma television, laptop and mobile phone were amongst the items stolen during another burglary.

A house in Blackdown Road was targeted by thieves between noon on Friday and 6.45am on Monday, August 16.

The owners returned from a weekend away to find the side door of the house had been forced.

It had been searched and items stolen included a television, worth 500, jewellery and a laptop worth 329.

But thieves failed in their attempt to get into Worthing Boys Club.

A small panel of safety glass by the main entrance to the club, in Ivy Arch Road, was smashed between Thursday, August 12, and 11.05am on Monday, August 16.

Luckily, the glass was reinforced with wire and the thieves did not get into the building.
