Shoreham Airshow 2012: Day two preview

THOUSANDS of people are expected to attend the second day of the Shoreham Airshow today (Sunday, September 2).

Some amazing displays have been lined up for this year’s airshow, including old favourites and some new surprises.

With 12 aerobatic teams, 12 solo displays, two gliding teams, two parachute teams and more than six hours of flying, organisers are hoping there will be something for everyone.

One of the highlights this year will be the Tucano solo display. The Tucano T1 is used at RAF Linton-on-Ouse to “train tomorrow’s fast-jet aircrew”.

For those who enjoy aerobatic displays, the Trig team will once again be at this year’s airshow.

Richard Grace and Dave Puleston will wow the crowds in their Pitts Special S-1DB planes, an ideal display aircraft because of its rate of roll and general manoeuvrability.

Also wowing the crowds with their daring deeds will be the Breitling Wingwalkers and The Blades, official display team for RAFA.

For those who enjoy larger aircraft there will be the Sally B17 and the BeechKingAirB200.

A reporter and photographer from the Herald and Gazette will be at the airshow today so check back later for a report on all the day’s events.

There will also be a picture special in next week’s papers (Thursday, September 6, edition).
