Shoreham Airshow 2012: A wet start and a big finish on day two

A WET morning meant there was a reduced programme at the Shoreham Airshow today (Sunday, September 2) but there were still plenty of crowd pleasers this afternoon.

Displays started shortly before 2pm with German training planes including the Bestmann, shortly followed by local display pilot Justyn Gorman in his Super Decathlon.

There was close formation flying from The Matadors Red Bull Team and the SWIP team in their Silence SA1100 Twisters.

Guy Westgate also returned for his 14th consecutive airshow in his GliderFX.

The Brietling Wingwalkers and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, complete with pyrotechnics, once again proved popular with the crowds.

The Beech King Air B200, Catalina G-PBYA and the Sally B all displayed, with the owners of the Sally B thanking airshow flying director Peter Eager for his support over the years.

One of the highlights of the day for many spectators, however, came at the end of the programme when the Vulcan flew in accompanied by the RAFA Blades display team.

Many members of the crowd were on their feet as the Vulcan performed several low-and-slow fly-pasts before the Blades finished the day off with an aerobatic display.
