Shoreham boy's slogan wins cash

A 10-year-old boy won £500 for his school after creating the winning entry in a Tesco recycling competition.

Harry Nightingale, a pupil at Buckingham Park Primary School, Buckingham Road, Shoreham, created a slogan for the new recycling centre at Tesco Extra in the Holmbush Centre, Shoreham.

He wrote: "If you recycle you're saving the environment, and if you save the environment you're saving the world.

"Make our future brighter."

Along with fellow classmate, Jonathan Dyer and head teacher Louise Swann, Harry cut the ribbon to declare the centre officially open.

Mrs Swann said: "I would like to congratulate Harry on winning the competition and to thank the store for this generous donation to our school."

Primary school children from around Shoreham were asked to create a snappy slogan or poem about the benefits of caring for the environment and recycling.

As well as the 500 for his school Harry also won a 100 Tesco Gift Card and will have his entry displayed on the recycling centre.
