Shoreham footbridge name shortlist revealed

FIVE names have been shortlisted for the new Shoreham footbridge, out of the 130 suggested.

Now, the winner will be decided by a public vote online, operated by West Sussex County Council.

Adur Council chairman Mike Mendoza, who was a member of the judging panel, said: “Out of the 130 suggested names for the bridge, we have brought them down to five for the public to vote on.

“I am happy with those voted on by the Shoreham walk bridge steering committee, of which I am a member.”

The names chosen at a meeting on Friday were:

– The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Bridge

– Coronation Bridge

– Adur Ferry Bridge

– The De Haura Bridge

– The Jubilee Bridge

Online voting opens on Monday, June 3, and runs until Sunday, June 16. There is one vote per person allowed.
