Sign up for community walk

An opportunity to fundraise without the headache of organisation - that's Bexhill Rotary Club's Community Walk.

Anyone can take part to raise money for a pet project or charity but this year a limit has been set on 1,000 walkers.

The event will take place on Sunday June 7 and gives those taking part several options in how much they want to achieve - there is a choice of 15 mile and 7 mile walks in the 1066 Countryside, or a gentle two mile stroll along the seafront.

This is the seventh year the Community Walk has been held and it is supported by the Bexhill Observer - last year nearly 30,000 was raised by over 500 walkers.

Rotary committee member Harold Lawrence said: "This is an opportunity for local people not only to get out and enjoy the countryside or walk along the seaside but also raise money for their own specific organisations or charities.

"It is not that many that just put an event on for other people to enjoy and prosper from. Last year we raised about 30,000 for local organisations and charities which ranged from something like 50 for one person to 1,000 for another. It is a very worthwhile opportunity to raise funds without having to worry about the organisation of it."
