Rod Wood, who survived a heart attack in a health club jacuzzi, organised the charity fundraiser.

“After 18 months of recuperation and finding myself well again, I thought it would be nice to do something for the British Heart Foundation,” explained Rod, of Bruce Avenue, Goring.

“Through my friends at D.J. Redman Building Supplies, Highdown Construction and The Verandah café in Goring, we were able to get premiership footballer Glen Murray to donate a signed Crystal Palace shirt to raffle.

“Trevor Jones, owner of The Verandah, was more than happy to organise a raffle and quiz night to further the money we are raising.

“If anyone would like to buy raffle tickets, they can do so from The Verandah, in Goring Road, to help this good cause which is close to my heart.

“I would like to thank all my friends and local businesses that have helped me over the last 18 months on my road to recovery.”
