Sinkhole opens up in Worthing street

EMERGENCY services had to block off a Tarring road last night after a sinkhole opened up.

A fire crew from Worthing headed to South Street after getting the call from a passer-by just before 7pm yesterday (June 18).

“They said it was a sinkhole approximately 18 inches in diameter in the roadway,” said a spokeswoman this morning.

“They closed the southbound carriageway and made the area safe.”
