Sion students told about horror of Holocaust

STUDENTS who visited Nazi death camp Auschwitz in October as part of a national awareness project have given their school an assembly in connection with Holocaust Memorial Day.

Elle Church and Sophie Burgess, 18, of Our Lady of Sion school in Gratwicke Road, Worthing, were selected to take part in the Holocaust Educational Trust’s “Lessons from Auschwitz” project, which takes hundreds of sixth-form students to the famous site each year.

As part of the project, the pair became ambassadors of the trust and are tasked with spreading the word about what they learnt during the course of their trip.

They were joined by deputy prime minister Nick Clegg, who was supporting the trust in its 100th journey.
