Dawn Jee, 47, of Southwick, has been recognised as an ‘associate’ of the society, after impressing a panel of judges with her proficiency and competence.

The title is the society’s second-highest distinction.

Mrs Jee said: “I was completely thrilled at being awarded this status by the RPS. It was like all my Christmases coming at once.

“All I kept thinking was ‘wow’ as this is an association which includes members such as David Bailey, Anne Leibovitz and Martin Parr.”

To become a member of the RPS at associate level, Mrs Jee was requested to show the judges that she had a good portfolio of work demonstrating both creativity and technical skills.

In addition to her 15-year career as a full-time professional photographer and her degree in photography were taken into consideration.

She said: “I am very passionate about taking photographs – its not just a job its a way of life.

“From getting my first camera at the age of 11, I was hooked.”
