SNOW: Stay safe on West Sussex roads and school closures - Readers' pictures

Traffic

Traffic is very slow on the A27 due to a broken-down vehicle in the Southwick tunnel.

The A259 in Shoreham is closed in both directions just before Kingston Lane, due to gas leaks and snow.

The A27 between Worthing and Arundel is clear.

Superintendent Steve Barry, Sussex Road Policing Unit, said: "The good news so far - it seems that people have taken heed of the weather warning and the general advice to stay off the roads unless really necessary.

WIt also seems that those who are driving have been doing so with proper care.

"The bad news - it is due to get worse today. We continue to encourage people to stay off the roads, particularly around rural areas and hills."

"We have had reports of several dozen road crashes since midnight across Sussex. These have been mainly low-speed damage only or minor injury incidents - none have so far involved serious injury or damage.

"Many are single vehicle-only incidents. There are also many abandoned vehicles."

Trains are running with a 40 minute delay.
