A MAN who was injured while walking the South Downs Way for charity has finally completed his challenge.

Steve Lovell, 39, of Cokeham Lane, Lancing, arrived in Eastbourne last Sunday, despite badly rolling his ankle on his first attempt at the course.

Steve took up the challenge to raise money for local children’s charity Freddysmile.

“It’s an amazing feeling. It’s hard to describe as I have nothing to compare it to,” he said.

Steve has decided to take time off from fundraising.

He said: “There are other things I want to do with my life and I need a couple of years off to recover.”

Steve has raised £932 of his £2,000 target.

Freddysmile chairman Kelly Street said: “We are very proud of Steve, I have got a lot of respect for him.

Kelly said she didn’t believe Steve would stay away from fundraising for long.
