Sompting man arrested after attack with machete

A SOMPTING man has been arrested following a machete attack on a man in Shoreham.

Police were called to Buckingham Street in Shoreham at 3.15am last Monday to reports a man had been assaulted and received a head wound.

Scotty McGill, 47, of Freehold Street, was found in a serious condition and taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital, but released later that day.

Two men, a 26-year-old man from Sompting and a 31-year-old man from Shoreham, have been arrested for GBH. They have been bailed until January 17.

Police are still appealing for any witnesses to contact police on 101 or email quoting serial 81 of 9/12.

DC Andy Hobden said it was a serious incident and urged anyone with information to come forward.
