A lucky Sompting woman is celebrating after winning £10,000 in a postcode lottery.
Sarah Wheels, 31, of Loose Lane, scooped the jackpot in the People’s Postcode Lottery, after her postcode was drawn in the Saturday Street Prize competition on November 10.
The ticket cost £2 and she had only been playing for one month before winning.
Sarah gave up her role working as a retail manager at Claire’s Accessories to be a stay-at-home mum and look after 19 month-old son, Sonny, and she said the money will come in very useful.
She explained: “This is absolutely brilliant, it was such a real shock.”
“I rang my partner David and told him the great news and he couldn’t believe it either.
“We have six children between the two of us, so it will be a bumper Christmas in our house.”
Sarah is now looking forward to a Christmas without financial worry.
She said:“We can buy lots of lovely gifts and hopefully there will be enough pennies to go on a holiday abroad as well next year.”
The lottery scheme has raised over £21 million for various causes and charities around the country.
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt said: “By playing People’s Postcode Lottery, Sarah and all of the players have helped to support great charities and good causes across Great Britain.”
