Starbucks lodges bid for Worthing town centre shop

WORTHING could have its second Starbucks after the chain lodged a planning application to open in the town centre.

Weeks after the chain was confirmed to be opening a branch in Broadwater, a planning application has been launched for a town centre shop.

The site under consideration is currently Bliss clothes shop, next to Debenhams, in South Street.

The interest from the multinational firm was positive for Worthing, town centre manager Sharon Clarke said.

“Worthing is known for its great independent café scene and this will still be vibrant in the town but as town centre shopping moves toward, becoming a leisure activity, places to sit and socialise are becoming more important.”
