People will be able to take their own apples to Steyning Memorial Playing Field for pressing and the orchard team will be selling freshly-pressed apple juice and apples donated by supporters.

Bob Platt, one of the organisers, said: “The first two apple days were such a success, we are not going to make many changes.

“We will have all of our usual attractions – live music, refreshments and apple-based produce for sale.”

The day runs from noon to 4pm and children’s activities include storytelling with Julia and Malcolm Donaldson. Julia will also be signing books.

The apple crop this year promises to be large, though the ripening of the fruit is slightly delayed due to the lack of sun during the summer.

The orchard is growing and the team will be planting another tree of Sussex Heritage origin on Apple Day.
