Still time to have say on 20mph idea

THE CONSULTATION into whether or not a 20mph limit for many of Worthing’s residential roads should be introduced will close at the end of the month.

The West Sussex County Council-led consultation has been running for nearly three months, with information packs and comment forms sent to every household and business in the town.

The responses, accepted by postal return only, will help Worthing County Local Committee decide if it should take the consultation to a second formal stage.

Worthing County Local Committee Chairman Paul High said: “We need as many people in Worthing to respond to these letters as we can get.

“We must decide if more time and money should be committed towards investigating a 20mph limit in greater detail.

“The greater the number of responses, the more informed we will be as a committee when we make the decision.”

The deadline for postal responses is Thursday, July 31.

Replacements for lost forms can still be obtained from the county council.

The campaign for and against the plans has been hard-fought.

20’s Plenty are in favour of the idea, while 20’s Pointless vehemently oppose the scheme. Councillors will make the final decision.
