Suzy gears up for another marathon bid

A Barnham woman who runs around the world is hoping to send seriously ill children on holiday.

Suzy Peacock is in training to take part in her second London Marathon. A long-haul cabin crew member, she is preparing for the April 22 occasion by fitting in her runs on stopovers in various continents.

Last week saw her running around Mauritius before she returned to this country ready for another trip overseas.

'I do have to listen to my body a bit,' she explained. 'It might think the time is 3am when it is mid-afternoon in the country I am in and I do have to take that into account. However, I wanted to do the marathon again because I enjoyed it so much on my first time last year. I surprised myself. The spirit of London on the day and the camaraderie of everyone running was so good.

'I also want to prove that last year wasn't a fluke and that I can get round the course again. I finished in four hours and 36 minutes last year, which was pretty good, and I would like to go faster if I can.'

Suzy (31), of Yapton Road, hopes to raise 1,000 from this year's marathon to raise money for the Dreamflights charity. This organises holidays to Disneyworld in Orlando for about 200 children a year. Anyone who would like to back her should go to www.justgiving.com/sdl.peacock
