Taking the plunge for Save The Children

TWO friends made a splash in Arundel on Sunday in the latest stage of their swim around the country.

Bob Holman, 63, and David Pratton, 52, both from Somerset, have set themselves the challenge of swimming a mile each in every lido and outdoor pool in the country to raise money for Save The Children.

Their 64-length swim at Arundel Lido took place before the pool opened to the public to avoid disruption and the men were pleased to find the water heated.

The lido's facilities manager David Batchelor said: "What a great way to raise much needed funds while promoting the much-loved, but often sadly in decline outdoor pools."

The two men said the lido was one of the most picturesque they had visited, given its views of Arundel Castle and setting close to the River Arun.

It is now open every day until September 9 and has a range of sports, activities and courses available across the summer.
