The takeaway’s front of house, Patty, greeted me with a beaming smile when I paid the
eatery a visit last week to order a takeaway for two, and she was more than happy to accommodate my spice requirements.

To start, we had sesame prawns on toast (£3.80) and spring rolls (£3.80) served with a sweet chilli sauce.

Both dishes were perfectly crisp and well presented, and left us eagerly awaiting the main dishes.

The selection of main courses were a real assault on the senses.

There was spice, there was fragrance and best of all, there were flavours that made us say ‘wow’.

The highlight had to be the panaenge curry with chicken (£6.50) and the fried rice with prawns (£7.50).

The panaenge, a red curry cooked with coconut milk and green and red pepper and finely chopped lime leaves, was a revelation.

The aroma of the lime leaves and the coconut milk added to the fantastic taste, and left us craving more of the thick, smooth sauce.

The rice dish was moreish and contained a generous amount of large prawns still attached to the tail – the perfect accompaniment.

Next up was the phad graphao with chicken (£5.95) and the phad nam man hoi with beef (£5.95) – Thai dishes we had not had the pleasure of sampling before, and so it was with great gusto that we tucked into them.

The graphao was a spicy stir-fried dish with fresh chilli, garlic, basil leaves, green beans and peppers.

The dish had a hot kick, however, it did not overwhelm and detract from the taste of the dish.

In fact, it provided a great contrast to the coconut milk in the panaenge, and the steamed jasmine rice (£1.80) helped to take the edge off.

The phad nam man hoi was another stir-fry dish made with oyster sauce, mushroom, broccoli, spring onion and peppers.

A rich dish with succulent beef, it was not dissimilar to beef with black bean sauce and was incredibly tasty.

Patty said the takeaway offers a free raffle initiative to give something back to customers.

Every customer will be provided with a raffle ticket and a winning ticket will be selected at random at the end of each month.

The winner will win a free meal worth £30.

The takeaway is open Monday to Saturday, from 5.30pm until 10pm, and there is free delivery on all orders over £15 within a three-mile radius.
