Teacher to complete 12,000ft skydiving challenge

A FATHER will take part in a skydive to raise money for a charity that helps families who have been affected by the loss of a child at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in infancy.

Andy Cooper will jump 12,000 feet in Kent on Saturday to raise money for Saying Goodbye, part of the Mariposa Trust.

The 35-year-old from Broadwater found out about the work of the charity after his wife Luisa lost son Noah 35 weeks into the pregnancy in 2011.

Mr Cooper, a teacher, said: “It was a dreadful time and there were complications so my wife was incredibly ill and spent hours in theatre.

“We were told that Noah’s heart had stopped when we went for a scan on the Thursday and we then spent the weekend at Worthing Hospital.

“They could not tell us why it had happened and the whole topic is a massive taboo, no-one talks about it, yet when we lost Noah the amount of people who told us that they had gone through the same thing or knew someone who had was very surprising.

“This charity does amazing work to help people and I have always wanted to do a skydive so it seemed like the perfect opportunity.”
