Teen denies £1million cable theft

A WINCHELSEA Beach teenager has denied being part of an 11 strong gang accused of posing as workmen to steal £1 million of phone cabling.

Harry House, 19, of Smeatons Lane, appeared at Southwark Crown Court this week with ten other defendents,

All 11 pleaded not guilty to one count of conspiracy to steal on or before May 17 this year.

The defendants, ranging in ahe from 19 - 55 are mostly from the Middlesex area. Thye are said to have posed as workmen to dig up kilometres of the valuable copper wire.

All eleven were released on bail ahead of their next appearance at the same court on May 8, 2012, for a trial estimated to last up to six weeks.
