Teens’ TV dream comes true

The group Teen Aid UK was formed by Emma Finlay-Smith to raise money for Children in Need.

Inspired by Band Aid, the teenagers, from Worthing, Hove and Portslade, as well as Kent, Hampshire and the West Midlands, released a cover version of Shine by Take That.

Members include Shoreham College student Alasdair Tennent, 15, from Worthing; Christelle Lamb, 14, from Durrington; Lily Armstrong, 15, from Portslade; and Izzy Finlay-Smith, 15, from Hove.

Ms Finlay-Smith said: “They had a fantastic day. It started with Lily and Izzy being interviewed on the Danny Pike Show on BBC Radio Sussex and singing live.

“Then we headed up to Reading. They were interviewed as part of the Pudsey Dash in the south. Also their photograph was hanging on the wall of the Queen Vic in Albert Square behind boy band Rixton when Shane Richie interviewed them.

“And a clip of our music video was shown. So all in all, they appeared three separate times on Children in Need.

“They were also interviewed by BBC Radio Berkshire and sung a capella, which aired the following morning.”

Donations are still coming in but the group is expecting its donation to top £2,000.

Ms Finlay-Smith added: “They had a wonderful day, a lovely reward for all their endeavours and hard work.”
