Tesco winner bags free shopping for a year

In conjuction with the Worthing Herald series, Chichester Observer series, the Littlehampton Gazette and the West Sussex County Times, the Tesco Extra store at Shoreham’s Holmbush Centre ran a Win Shopping for a Year competition, which finished earlier this month.

On Saturday, four finalists battled it out in a nail-biting live final, with Anita Frecknall from Horsham scooping the top prize of £5,200 in Tesco gift cards.

Anita, along with fellow finalists Margaret Wesley, David Dudley and Angela Pavely, were invited to the store for the final.

Each took a turn to choose a key and attempt to unlock a box and Anita, who was the third finalist to pick a key, successfully unlocked the box which revealed she had won the top prize.

She said: “I never dreamed I would win this competition, it’s amazing. I was the third contestant so when the first two keys didn’t unlock the box and it was down to 50/50, I started to believe I had a chance. With such a big prize, I think I’ll be getting lots of treats for everybody and possibly even a new television.”

None of the finalists walked away empty handedm with the three runners up each receiving a £100 Tesco gift card.

Store manager Paul Bunyan said: “The event was a great success and created a fantastic atmosphere in store. It was great to see one of our customers win such an incredible prize. I would like to thank everyone for taking part.”
