Thanks for Neal as he 'shoves off'

THE Rother Friendly Darts and Shove League bid farewell to a familiar face on Saturday night.

Secretary Neal Hunter, from Battle, has been running the club for the last eight years but is now moving away from the area.

The league is played on Thursday nights throughout the winter and has been running for over 50 years.

Eleven teams currently take part and it has been Neal's job to ensure everything runs smoothly and all teams are happy.

He was also in charge of meetings, creating the fixtures lists and league tables, competitions and KO nights.

The Hunter Cup has been introduced in honour of Neal's hard work and players will battle it out for the cup each year.

Sarah Hunter, speaking on behalf of the league, said: "We thank Neal for all his hard work throughout the years and wish him good luck for the future from all who play."

Members gathered at the finals and presentation night at the Royal British Legion in Battle to say goodbye to Neal.
