Thanks to loyal customer

A PENSIONER has been rewarded for being a loyal customer to the same supermarket for more than seven decades.

Olive Herd, 93, from Telscombe Cliffs, began shopping at a Sainsbury's in Greenford and Wembley stores 72 years ago and more recently in Brighton and Newhaven.

Tim Maginnis, store manager at Newhaven, presented her with a bunch of flowers to mark her 93rd birthday.

Olive, a former nurse, also worked in folk legend Bob Copper's Central Club in Peacehaven as a barmaid for 25 years.

She was still cycling at the age of 79 and only stopped when she broke her wrist. Although registered blind, she is still very active.
