Thieving ‘scumbags’ escape with caution

SHAMELESS thieves who pinched a large quantity of donations from outside a charity shop have been branded ‘scumbags’ by shop staff.

A man and a woman from Chichester, escaped with a caution from police, after they were arrested for stealing items left outside the Salvation Army store in South Street, Lancing, last Monday.

Eddie Everett has been a Salvation Army volunteer for 11 years.

He said: “They are absolute scumbags. I just don’t understand it. It’s the lowest of the low to take stuff from the charity shop. We have had stuff stolen before but nothing like this.”
