Thousands sign cinema petition in Littlehampton

More than 2,000 people have so far signed a petition calling on Arun District Council to provide much-needed funding to replace the Windmill Entertainment Centre’s ageing projection equipment.

The surge of support follows the announcement earlier this year by Inspire Leisure, the organisation in charge of the Windmill, that no more films would be shown after February 14, as a result of cutbacks in the funding it receives from Arun to run the district’s leisure facilities.

Littlehampton Civic Society, which has organised the projector petition, is arranging a protest march from the Windmill to the Arun Civic Centre, in Maltravers Road, on Wednesday, February 6, at 11am.

Speaking about the response to the petition – which people have been signing at shops in Littlehampton and Rustington – society secretary Angela Tester, said that she was overwhelmed by the support of the community.
