Thousands turn out for ‘emotional’ Race for Life

THOUSANDS of women turned Worthing’s seafront into a sea of pink this morning as they took part in the Race for Life, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Before the race had even got underway 3,000 women, each sporting a pink t-shirt – some with heartfelt tributes on, filled Steyne Gardens, as they warmed up with a brief zumba routine.

Julie Locke, 61, of Brook Way, Lancing, ran alongside her sister Allison, 57, and niece Sarah, 22, both of whom had travelled from Exmouth in Devon.

Julie said: “We lost dad to cancer and lots of other people within the family, so we are doing it to try and raise funds for research and to hopefully find a cure. It’s a privilege to be here. There are a lot of brave people here.”
