Three injured in A21 crash

THREE people were injured, one seriously, in an accident on the A21 this morning (Thursday).

Police, paramedics and the fire brigade raced to the scene at around 9.40am following reports that two cars had collided on the stretch of road near the junction with Marley Lane, Battle.

An 83-year-old woman was taken to the Eastbourne District General Hospital with a leg injury.

A 50-year-old man and a woman in her 20s were taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings.

The police have said one person is believed to have sustained serious injuries.

The crash involved two vehicles - a silver Honda Civic, registered to an address in Crowhurst, and a green Ford Fiesta, which is registered to an address in St Leonards.

The A21 was closed in both directions for several hours, with reports of huge tailbacks as traffic was diverted.
