Town gets switched on for Christmas

Christmas comes to Bognor Regis this Saturday.

The town centre illuminations will be switched on at 4pm. Actor Christopher Timothy has agreed to perform the ceremony, subject to availability. The displays funded by the town council include new lights adorning the High Street and York Road after last year's new displays for London Road.

The occasion will be preceeded at 3.55pm by Laura and Thea's displays being brought to life.

The switch ons are only part of a day of activities around the London Road precinct.

A craft and gift fair will open in the Regis Centre at 10am followed by Santa's Grotto between 1.30pm and 3.30pm and from 4.30pm until 6pm.

The precinct will feature performances by choirs, including Art of Dance and Fitness, and the Salvation Army band.

A nativity farm will be set up in the precinct and stars of Bognor's panto, The Wonderful World of Oz, will be performing there at about 3.25pm.

There will also be plenty of snow at the ceremony to provide a seasonal weather touch.
