Town’s new library hosts local learning exhibition

LEARNING groups in Rye have come together to mount an exhibition of posters in the new Rye Library.

The aim of the exhibition is to highlight local learning opportunities for adults.

There will be a help desk operating on Saturday for all who would like to know more.

The exhibition is Rye’s contribution to National Learners’ Week.

Rye Community College have used the exhibition to launch some of their new initiatives for school leavers, as well promoting their well established Wednesday evening adult classes.

Rye U3A, the WEA, the Museum, the Art Gallery, The Creative Centre and the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve have all put up posters advertising their own opportunities.

Exhibition co-ordinator Terry Burke said: “There is an awful lot of learning going on in Rye, but not everyone knows about it.

“This exhibition is a chance to share information between providers and to bring adult learning to the attention of a much wider public. We are very grateful to the library for hosting this exhibition of posters. It would be marvellous if this was the start of something bigger.”
