TRAFFIC UPDATE: Widespread disruptions on A27 and A259

MOTORISTS across the area face lengthy delays as traffic through Arundel grinds to a halt, following the onset of extensive roadworks at the Crossbush intersection.

Traffic travelling on the eastbound carriageway of the A27, through Arundel towards Worthing, is today (Monday, March 12) facing major disruption, with some reports suggesting tailbacks stretching back for more than a mile, before reaching the dual carriageway stretch of road, heading towards Worthing.

Westbound traffic is being diverted onto the eastbound carriageway with a contra-flow in place.

Drivers are able to turn left towards Littlehampton, but those approaching from the town will have no right turn along the A27 towards Worthing and instead have to continue to the first Arundel roundabout to make a 180-degree turn.

Drivers are being advised to use alternative routes such as the A259 through Littlehampton.

However, as a result, there have been wide-spread disruptions to the traffic heading through Angmering, as motorists attempt to rejoin the A27.

Road users are being urged to allow extra time for their journey, while the roadworks continue for the next five-weeks.
