Tram talk interests Ferring History Group

MEMBERS of Ferring History Group took a trip down memory lane at its latest meeting when Ian Gledhill, from the Volk’s Electric Railway Association Conservation and Support Group, delivered a talk on the history of trams.

Ian’s talk included information on Worthing’s Tramocar, which ran along the seafront in the 20s and 30s, and the origins of the tram.

Eileen Godfrey said: “It was very good. He had some very good old photographs. I thought one of the most interesting things was that in Manchester they had potted palms on the top deck of open top trams.”

Ian’s collection of photos included one of a special tram being used to take people to a show by Buffalo Bill in 1903.
