Arson blamed for 1,000 hay bales fire in Arundel

Firefighters have been in Arundel overnight battling a blaze of around 1,000 hay bales at a farm.

The fire service was called at 10.38pm on Thursday, October 27, to reports of a significant fire at a farm in Mill Road.

Fire engines were sent from Arundel and Littlehampton, along with three 4x4 vehicles from Bognor Regis, Shoreham and Chichester, with the last appliance only leaving the scene at 10.24am this morning.

A spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “It was quite a big fire involving approximately 1,000 hay bale stacks being alight.

“It is believed to be deliberate ignition. No one was hurt.”
