Body found in Upper Beeding ditch

Members of the public discovered a body in a River Adur drainage ditch, just off the A283 Steyning by pass south of Upper Beeding, at 4.40pm on Sunday (October 4).

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Police have been at the scene and preparations are being made to recover the body safely for examination.

“The body appears to be that of an adult and to have been there for some time.

“It is not currently possible to confirm whether the body is that of a man or a woman.”

At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained.
