Elderly man dies after crash in February

An elderly man who was seriously injured in a crash in Partridge Green in February has died.

Patrick Howgill, 87, of Castle Lane, Steyning, died in the Queen Alexandra Hospital Home in Worthing on Thursday November 5.

He was the driver of a Jaguar X-type estate car which crashed on the B2135 Needs Hill on Monday February 9.

His wife, 82-year-old Alexis Howgill, who was the front seat passenger, died in hospital on February 11. An inquest held on October 9 found that her death resulted from the crash.

An inquest in respect of Mr Howgill has been formally opened and adjourned to a date yet to be set by the West Sussex Coroner.

No other vehicle or person was involved in the crash.
