Generator fire and crash attended by West Sussex firefighters

INCIDENTS attended by West Sussex firefighters in the last 24 hours include:-

Wednesday, February 29, 3.02pm to 3.41pm:

Langhurstwood Road, Horsham – diesel generator used for temporary traffic light system destroyed by fire. Accidental cause, incident left with contractor by crew from Horsham.

Wednesday, February 29, 3.32pm to 4.03pm:

Northbrook College, Littlehampton Road, Goring – small fire in first floor art room involving one violin and one plastic chair. Fire extinguished by staff before arrival of firefighters. Accidental cause.

Three-storey block of flats, Rogate Road, Worthing – fire in bedroom of first-floor flat. Bedroom severely damaged by fire. One man led to safety by Worthing firefighters and given oxygen by paramedics. Both he and a woman taken to hospital by ambulance. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Wednesday, February 29, 6.38pm to 6.49pm:

Pub in Lower Street, Fittleworth – pub smoke logged after chimney fire. Two crews from Petworth on scene to extinguish blaze, ventilate pub and use thermal imagaing camera to check for hot areas.

Wednesday, February 29, 7.46pm to 8.18pm:

Hunston Road, Hunston – crash involving three cars. Driver of one car rescued using hydraulic equipment. Three people, including one police officer, assessed at the scene by paramedics. All three taken to hospital. Any witnesses are asked to contact Sussex Police on 101, quoting operation leicester.

Wednesday, February 29, 8.02pm to 8.25pm:

Bonfire off Dappers Lane, Angmering – large unattended bonfire extinguished by Worthing crew.
