UPDATE: A27 in Arundel closed following crash.

THE A27 near Arundel has been closed in both direction following a crash, earlier this afternoon (Friday, July 6), police have said.

The Arundel bypass between The Causeway junction and the Crossbush Lane junction has been sealed as emergency services attempt to clear the road.

It is believed that a lorry and two cars were involved in a collision on the highway, shortly after 3pm.

Debris from the lorry, travelling on the westbound carriage way, is currently strewn across the road.

No-one was injured in the collision, police have said.

Traffic coming from Worthing is now being routed south through Littlehampton, along the Lyminster Road, while those travelling eastbound, from Chichester are being diverted south, through Ford, along Ford Road.

A police spokeswoman said: “It appears that a lorry has shed its load on the bridge whilst travelling westbound. This has caused significant traffic delays and the road is currently closed.”

She added: “There do not appear to be any injuries.”
