UPDATE: Woman pulled from sea has died
The air ambulance had to land on Worthing beach this morning after a woman was pulled from the water by quick-thinking members of the public.
Officers were called about 9.20am to a report of a woman in the sea off Marine Parade, a spokesperson for Sussex Police confirmed.

Hide AdKallum Offen-Ives, 20, said he was one of the people who pulled her from the water:
“I saw two guys running into the water,” said Mr Offen-Ives, who had been working as a labourer beneath Worthing Pier.
He then ran over to assist the them in pulling the woman from the water.
“We got her on a large patch of sand and put her in the recovery position.”

Hide AdAt this point one person administered first aid while they waited for the emergency services, which arrived 10 to 15 minutes later, he said.
The air ambulance was joined on scene by police and paramedics.
However, the woman sadly died shortly afterwards.
There are no suspicious circumstances and the coroner’s officer has been informed, police say.
