Waiting restrictions for Mid Sussex town

A PLAN to introduce waiting restrictions around what will be the market in The Broadway, Haywards Heath, will be discussed at the next Central Mid Sussex County Local Committee meeting.

The proposals are:

No waiting on Saturdays from 8am to 3pm

No vehicles except for access on Saturdays from 8am to 3pm

Waiting limited to two hours with no return in one hour Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm

Planning permission has already been granted for the market, being developed by On Broadway Events company. It is proposing a ‘Quality Local Produce Market’ featuring 60 stalls along the roadside of The Broadway.

Pete Bradbury, Committee Chairman, said: “Mid Sussex District Council has given permission for the market to be built as it is felt it will bring significant benefits to the local community.

“The report states the proposal would mean The Broadway would potentially be closed to through traffic and parking for seven hours, 52 times a year.”

The meeting is being held on Tuesday May 24 at Haywards Heath Library in Boltro Road (RH16 1BN) from 7pm.
