Worthing man dies in A27 collision

A WORTHING man has died following an accident on the A27.

It is believed the 58-year-old’s car had broken down, and while he was standing near to his vehicle, another car collided with it. It is thought the man’s own car struck him and, sadly, he suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision happened on the westbound carriageway of the A27 at Hangleton on Thursday evening (June 23), at around 10.20pm.

The road was closed for several hours while officers from Sussex Police forensic collision investigation and reconstruction unit completed their investigation.

A 35-year-old man from Brighton who was treated at Worthing Hospital for minor injuries has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
