Worthing man named after A27 crash

POLICE have named the 58-year-old Worthing resident who died following an accident on the A27 near Southwick tunnel.

Alf Filer, of Elm Grove, Worthing died at the scene of the crash at Hangleton on Thursday, June 23.

It is believed Mr Filer was standing next to his broken down Vauxhall Astra in lane one, just past the Hangleton turn off, when a Peugeot 306 collided with his car, which in turn hit him resulting in fatal injuries.

The 38-year-old driver of the Peugeot, arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving, has been bailed until Tuesday, September 13.
