Traffic reports say three vehicles were involved in the accident westbound on the A27 Old Shoreham Road.
Congestion has been reported on the A27 Shoreham by-oass to the A283 Steyning Road.
The accident is affecting traffic heading towards Worthing and near to Lancing College.
