Travellers set up camp in Worthing park and Goring Greensward

A total of six caravans arrived in Victoria Park, Worthing, at around 1.30pm.

A further two caravans have stopped at Goring Greensward, in Marine Crescent.

A spokesman for Worthing Borough Council said they were taking advice from their legal team and police had been informed.

The council are undertaking a welfare assessment of the sites.

The latest encampment comes hours after police agreed to evict travellers from a football ground in Sompting this morning.

The police decided to move the caravans from Croshaw Recreation Ground in Grafton Drive, after the council assessed the site and deemed all individuals fit to travel.

They had spent several days at Lyons Way, in Worthing, before moving on to Sompting.
