Chris, 66, died earlier this month following a short illness, and his funeral will be held on Friday at Worthing Crematorium.

Chris volunteered at the Worthing-based charity for a number of years and was there five days a week, carrying out a range of tasks including transporting injured wildlife, collecting donations of pet food and keeping the charity’s animal feed sheds neat
and tidy.

Wadars operations manager Tracy Cadman said; “Everyone at Wadars has been shocked and deeply saddened by Chris’ death and will
miss him dearly. We still can’t believe he’s gone – not just because of what he did for us, but because he was such a kind and gentle man and always had a smile on his face.”

Following a suggestion from a fellow volunteer, the charity has set up a Just Giving page in memory of Chris – log on to Just Giving and search for Chris Smee campaign.

Tracy said: “Whilst it’s the last thing we wanted to or expected to be doing, we are now looking for people to fill some of the roles that Chris carried out, as well as a number of other positions.

“If anyone is interested in volunteering for Wadars then they should either call the charity on 01903 247111 or email [email protected]
